Department of Information Technologies

The Department of Information Technologies (DIT) of H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University was established in 2004 (Rector's Order № 163 of October 8, 2004). It was this year that it was separated into an independent unit from the Department of Informatics, and later (in 2010) became the basis for the establishment of the Institute for Educational Informatization of KHNPU named after H.S. Skovoroda.

The first head of the IT department was appointed Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, full professor Prokopenko Andriy Ivanovych (2004-2014). From 2014 to 2018, the department was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, full professor Oliynyk Tetyana Oleksiivna. From 2018 to the present time Head of the Department is Doctor of Pedagogical Sсiences, full professor Svitlana Dotsenko.

The Department of Information Technologies provides training for full-time and part-time specialists at all faculties of H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.

The main purposes of the department are high-quality digital training of students, graduate students and doctoral students; implementation of digital technologies in the educational process of the university.

Scientific and teaching staff of the department (as of 2020-2021 academic year): 2 doctors of sciences, full professors; 3 Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and 1 Candidate of Physico-mathematical Sciences, 7 engineers, head of laboratories and laboratory assistants. The facilities and equipment of the department includes 3 educational computer laboratories. This allows the department to carry out all types of educational, methodical, scientific educational, organizational, career guidance, international activities qualitatively in accordance with the Statute of the University, the decisions of the collegial governing Nation bodies of KHNPU named after H.S. Skovoroda.

Scientific theme of the department: Methodology and methodical problems of the digital technology practice in education and science.

The department actively researches methodological and methodological issues of integration of digital technologies in education and science, in particular, teachers of the department took part in international educational projects on formation of critical thinking of youth, media literacy, open educational resources (MOOC), use of ICT in educational and scientific activities, implementation of distance and blended learning in the educational process.
