The Department of Oriental Languages was established in 1996. Five Eastern languages are studied at the department: Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Persian, and Hebrew as the classes of free choice in bachelor's and master's degrees. Since 2019, the Chinese language has been studied as the main language within the educational program 035 "Philology. Chinese language and literature" for the bachelor's level, and since 2023 the educational program 035 "Philology. Chinese language and literature" for the master's level.

Close ties with the embassies of Eastern countries, with higher education institutions of China, Japan, Turkey, Iran and Israel, regular internships and professional development of the department's teachers guarantee a high-quality and modern approach to teaching Eastern languages. Knowledge of two (or more) foreign languages makes our graduates competitive and in demand on the labor market not only in Ukraine, but also abroad.

The Department of Oriental Languages is actively engaged in educational and career guidance activities. Students of many secondary education institutions are always invited to participate and attend various events, concerts, master classes in Eastern languages.
